Writer/Director Dana Glazer of A Case of Blue Takes A Deep Dive into the Joni Mitchell References in His Movie

Where does creative inspiration come from? We talk here with Writer/Director Dana Glazer whose movie A Case of Blue is now streaming. If you are a Joni Mitchell fan, you might already have has an inkling that the film might have some relationship to her work just be hearing the title. Read more about how Dana used one of his favorite artists as a muse for his film.

SBTS: "A Case of Blue" - tell me about how you were inspired to name the movie after her album "A Case of You". 

Dana Glazer: The film title is an amalgamation of Joni's songs, not from one song specifically. Certainly, the Blue album was a really big influence on me when I was in my 20's and trying to find the right life partner. The tug-pull of Joni's desire to find romance while also having total freedom spoke to me.

He bounces into the restaurant for this interview like a kid home on college break, slides into a booth  across from a friend eager to hear his story and orders a glass of apple juice. He has a friendly grin on his face. He always seems to have a grin on his face. especially these days when things are going well for this young writer-of-movies. This particular morning, it's also reflecting a feeling of relief after his son has snapped back from an appendicitis operation. Dana Glazer is doing what he wanted to do since he was nine years old.

A Case of Blue, a new film by writer/director Dana Glazer and by the Executive Producer of Home Alone, Scott Rosenfelt, announces the premiere of its trailer. The trailer can be viewed at a special party on March 12, 2019 at Pearl Restaurant, 17 South Broad Street in Ridgewood, NJ at 8pm. The cost is $75 and includes a sit-down dinner including dessert. Semi-formal attire is requested.

The public is invited. Come meet the people behind the scenes of the movie as well as some of the actors. Starring in the lead role is well-known actor Stephen Schnetzer, who spent decades on daytime TV as Cass Winthrop as well as roles on Law and Order and The Wire. Stephen will be making an appearance that night.

New Jersey Father and Daughter Co-Write Book Entitled "Dawnah The Zombie Whisperer" - A Great Read for Young Readers Seeking a Fun Adventure

Meet Twelve-year-old Dawnah - the zombie whisperer! It's a collaboration between a dad and his daughter. What's it about? When Dawnah, a socially awkward twelve-old-girl and her widowed father go on a camping trip, they find themselves thrust into the zombie apocalypse. As Dawnah and her dad travel along the Appalachian Trail, in order to reunite with her sibling, Dawnah discovers that she can control the living dead with her voice and that she may be the last hope for humanity.

Suzee: Tell me about the inspiration for the book.

Dana: It arose out of watching zombie movies with my daughter, Georgia, a genre we both love. We wanted to explore the zombie apocalypse genre in a unique way. Writing together was also a way to help Georgia process some social challenges she was facing at school at that time.

The 8th Annual Ridgewood Guild International Film Festival was home to over 200 films over it's 8 days. The festival started with a a Human Rights Film Festival for 2 days, a 2 day Foreign Film spectacular and two nights of shorts, student films, docs and films by new and established filmmakers from the US and abroad at the Bowtie Cinema Theater in downtown Ridgewood NJ.

Hundreds of people attended the festival and its activities. Of special note during the festival was a highlight reel and then talk and Q & A by Hollywood Producer Scott Rosenfelt (Home Alone, Teen Wolf,  Mystic Pizza). This presentation was given as part of the Ridgwood Arts Council Artist Talk Series. Attendees heard inside scoop on some of his most iconic movies, including how Michael J Fox was almost not cast in Back to the Future and what MaCauley Culkin was like on set as a kid.

Crowds also enjoyed seeing Real Housewife of New Jersey Dolores Catania and her family on the Red Carpet and then starring in the film Breaking Points by NJ filmmaker Brad Forenza.

A Case of Blue, a film by Dana Glazer is an official selection and will screen at the 2020 Imagine This International Women's Film Festival from September 24th-October 4th. There will be a  Live Director Q & A with Dana Glazer, who wrote and directed the film.There will also be a Q & A with the film's co-producers on September 30, 2020, Suzanne Ordas Curry and Dottie Fucito. Scott Rosenfelt (Home Alone, Mystic Pizza, Teen Wolf) is Executive Producer.

It was a play he did at Rutgers his junior year which prompted the career switch. And he has been successful at it since then, appearing in plays and movies consistently. He also teaches and directs. As of late, you can see him in the new film VAULT starring Don Johnson and the upcoming film A Case of Blue. Read on to find out how he's managed to pay the bills and keep on going nearing 50 years in showbiz.

Whether you've been to in-person film festivals in the past or tried the new "virtual festivals" what should be known about festivals is that the people that make these festivals LOVE film. One of the new aspects of virtual festivals is making what were once free "attractions" at in-person festivals have now moved online. The Ridgewood Guild International Festival is presenting a dozen interviews, 2 free "classes" and 3 events. The festival runs February 27th-March 3rd, 2021. NJ's Lighthouse Int'l Film Fest Goes Drive-In & Virtual: NJ Producer Scott Rosenfelt to be Honored for Home Alone, Teen Wolf, and his New film A Case of Blue, 80 Films Screened

Tucked away on a 18 miles stretch of white sandy beaches and shore houses along the Jersey shore is a film festival getting bigger each year.  The Lighthouse International Film Film is now in it's 12th year. Yes, the islanders and vacationers surely know about it but it's getting better and more reknown each year attracting people from all over the NY/NJ/Philadelphis area and more.

Courageously the show will go on this year despite the pandemic in a drive-in and virtual format from June 16th-20th. Luckily the island presents beautiful spaces where cars can socially distance themselves and movie buffs will get to see some great films on a big screen under the stars (which you can actually see on this pristine island).

This year the Ridgewood Guild International Film Festival (NJ) celebrates its 10th anniversary. In keeping with the tradition of showcasing a broad array of quality films from local and international fillmmakers, the show will go on but virtually. Though nothing can replace the hustle and bustle of the RGIFF Red Carpet and parties in beautiful downtown Ridgewood, holding the festival virtually means that now anyone can view it from the comfort of their own home on their own device.

Film Review: A Case of Blue Features Award-winning Performances by Stephen Schnetzer and Annapurna Sriram - It's A Story of Modern and Vintage Love

We have have spent most of the last year searching.  First for toilet paper.  Then Lysol wipes.  Lately any stray Xanax that might have slipped into the fuzzy abyss of our purse.  But - good news - the search for what to watch next is over.  Dana H. Glazer’s new film  A Case of Blue is not only what we have been searching for.  It is about what we are searching for.  The timing couldn’t be more perfect.

Stephen Schnetzer delivers an award winning performance as Richard Flicker, a recently retired accountant. To fill his newly free days Richard pursues an old passion and takes up drawing classes.  It is there he encounters Amelia played by Annapurna Sriram (Feral, The Blacklist) the granddaughter and striking imagine of his first love, Marci. Neither Richard’s wife, Ellie (Tracy Shane), nor his best friend, Kenny (Ken Baltin) seems surprised by this improbable but not impossible coincidence.  Nuanced symbolism blurs where the past and the present intersect.  Pause. Go back.  Look carefully.  Now go back to the beginning.  Watch it again. You will need more popcorn.
