“I grew up playing soccer for 20 years, and it’s actually my favorite sport to watch too. It’s a beautiful game. I think it's just so interesting to see the slow buildup of a play leading to a goal. Come on now,” he said.

On the best advice he has ever been given, he recalled, “It probably from my theater teacher who would reinforce the idea of listening.”
“Active listening is a skill,” he admitted. “Empathetic listening is a superpower. When someone really feels that you are there paying attention, it can heal certain parts of them.”

On his favorite hobbies, he said, “I really do like stretching. I like to put on some music and sometimes meditate. I just like to go outside and stare at the water and at the trees. I’m a big nature boy. I like listening to birds.”

On the best thing about being his age, he remarked, “The level of ease that I have in my skin… I used to be a very nervous boy, overthinking, very anxious, and I was always trying to find a solution to everything.”
“I was never quite comfortable in any given situation,” he said. “So, now over 30, I don't give a damn anymore. I'm going to be me.”
“I'm going to show up and I'm going to take away all this pressure to perform. I am just going to be present,” he acknowledged.

If Benjamin Roy was not an Actor He Might Be...
As an alternate career choice, outside of entertainment, it would be something that involves working with his hands. “I would be some kind of builder or in agriculture,” he said. “I love food. I love planting a garden, or I would do something with psychology.”
“I was this close to choosing a major in psychology to become a psychoanalyst or a therapist. I'm a big fan of the brain and how it works,” he admitted.
“That’s not out the window just yet. I can always go and study it in the meantime. Psychology is a big profession that I love,” he said.
