Mary Bridget Davies is an American singer, songwriter, and actress best known for her powerful blues-rock vocals and her acclaimed portrayal of Janis Joplin on stage. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio. Her favorite movie is “The Goonies.” “That’s my all-time favorite movie,” she admitted. “I had a crush on Sean Astin and I went to the phonebook in Cleveland, Ohio, to look up his name and call him to tell him what a good job he did in the movie. That’s what happens when you are so young and innocent. ‘The Goonies’ is one of my favorites.”
“I’m a sucker for good comedy. ‘The Big Lebowski’ is a crazy yet incredible movie,” she noted. “There are so many things that you can take away from it back and forth.”
“I'm in the state of my life now where I don't want to be scared and I don't want to be sad. That happens on a daily basis. So, anytime I reach back for something, I want it to be light and fun,” she said.
“The days of watching ‘The Notebook’ and crying my eyes out are over. I just want to be entertained,” she added.
Her Favorite Series to Binge-watch
Her favorite series to binge-watch is “Supernatural.” “That's a good one,” she said.
Favorite Sports to Watch and to Play
Her favorite sport to play is “crew.” “I was on crew in college, which was a lot of rowing,” she said. “That was one of my favorites to do. Obviously, this summer my favorite one to watch is the World Cup.”
“I was only introduced to it 20 years ago,” she noted. “I was in Colorado and they didn't have any cable. They just had the three basic channels.”
“So, I watched World Cup all summer and then, I became a fan. That's my favorite one to watch. My favorite one to do is crew,” she explained.
Her Favorite Motto to Live by
Favorite motto to live by is Janice's, which is don't compromise yourself. “You're all you've got,” she said. “The other one is to be yourself… Everybody else is taken.”
Favorite Cheat Meal
Her favorite cheat meal is “fettuccine alfredo.” “There was this place in Long Island City that I used to get it from all the time,” she recalled. “It was so good because they did it with an egg noodle. You have to go sit down and eat it as soon as it comes out of the kitchen.”
“A good, nasty fettuccine alfredo is the ultimate cheat meal,” she added.
How Mary Bridget Davies Unwinds
On her favorite hobbies to unwind and relax, she said, “I don't really unwind and relax, but what I do like to do is organize things. It brings me peace, if that makes sense.”
“I like sitting down and putting all my things away or doing a couple of loads of laundry; then, my life is complete,” she noted.
“My life is in order again. That relaxes me because then I'm prepared for the next couple weeks. That is also a Virgo thing probably,” she said with a sweet laugh.
How She Defines Success
Regarding her definition of the word success, she said, “Success means doing what I love and making enough money to raise my son.”
If Mary Could Have a Superpower it Might Be...
If she ever to have any superpower, it would be “to speak every language every known to man. Then, you would never be alone. You would never be without a job, and you could get a job as a translator.”
“You could hear people's stories in their original tongue with the joy and the zest and the expression that it deserves instead of having to dumb it down for English or something like that for me to understand,” she noted.
“I think that would be the coolest superpower to have,” she added.

Her alternate career choice would be to a “forensic scientist” or a “politician.” “I would love to be a forensic scientist so I can solve crimes,” she said.

Her favorite music is the blues, jazz, and soul music. Her favorite artists include the late but great Amy Winehouse, the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Gary Clark Jr., and Monster Mike Welsh.
