Amy Irving is a classically trained actress. From an early age, Amy Irving was a soulful ingénue and leading lady in the 1970s and 1980s, moving effortlessly from dramas like "Carrie" (1976) and "Yentl" (1983) to comedies like "Micki + Maude" (1984) and "Crossing Delancey" (1988). An Oscar and Golden Globe nominee, she moved into indies in the 1990s before returning to play more mature and complex roles in "Traffic" (2001) and "Hide and Seek" (2005). Irving remained a well-respected presence in films and on stage and television.
Her upcoming studio album “Always Will Be” will be released on April 25th via Queen Of The Castle Records/Missing Piece Records. She shared 10 interesting and exciting things about herself.
Amy's Favorite Movies
On her favorite movies, she remarked, “Well, my husband has done a lot of documentaries on filmmakers. In fact, I’ve always been married to movie directors, so I’ve had quite an education. Each of my husbands, they have all introduced me to various kinds of movies. My favorite of all was Jean Renoir’s ‘The Rules of the Game,’ the French film.”
Favorite Series to Binge-watch
On her favorite series, she said, “I did love ‘Deadwood,’ it was great. I’ve been watching the Taylor Sheridan series; they have all been wonderful. We’ve been watching those lately; they have been fun.”
Favorite Cheat Food
Her favorite cheat meal is “McVitie’s Homewheat” cookies. “I fell in love with them when I was a student in London,” she admitted.
Any Irving's Favorite Mottos to Live by
On her favorite motto to live by, she said, “Right now, the way things are, I would say ‘be kind.’  I just wish there was more kindness.”
Any Favorite Sports?
“I don’t watch sports, and I don’t really play sports," she said. “I’m a hiker. I hike with my dogs every day.”
The Best Advice Professional Advice Amy Irving Has Been Given
On the best advice that she has ever been given, she said, “I was doing a miniseries, where I had a week-long role, and I had to love this man… but I didn’t love this man. It was hot and we had to do intimate scenes, and he would wipe his armpits with the sheets we would have to lay in.” 
“I went home that night, and I called my mother, Priscilla Pointer, who is an actress, and she told me what to do in that scenario. She said: ‘Amy, it’s very easy; you just have to imagine that he doesn’t have very long to live.’  I thought that was just brilliant,” Irving said.
“At the end of the week, of course, I couldn’t wait for him to die,” she said with a sweet laugh. “That was great advice.”
Her Favorite Hobbies
Regarding her favorite hobbies, she revealed, “I love doing New York Times crossword puzzles, and Wordle. I have less and less interest reading the New York Times in the mornings; I just skim it, and I go straight to the puzzles and the games.”
What Amy Irving Says is the Best Thing about Being her Age
On the best thing about being her age, she said, “I think there are certain things that you don’t give a damn about anymore, and that’s nice. You have a better perspective on things.”
Her Dream Duet Partners in Music
“I would sure love it if Willie Nelson showed up on stage with me one day," she said. "That would be the best surprise. I would love to have Willie surprise me on stage while I am singing, and have him interrupt me; that would be thrilling.”
If Amy Irving Could Have a Superpower.....
If she were to have any superpower, it would be “to be invisible.” “My favorite part of being in the entertainment world is rehearsing and working with the other artists and creating,” she said.
