Opening Act's Annual Play Reading Gala features NYC Stars, Reading Directed by Tony Award Winner Rachel Chavkin & Hamilton's Supervising Director Patrick Vassel

Opening Act is on a mission to provide arts funding in New York City. In order to raise funds, it is holding its annual Play Reading Gala. With a star-studded list of actors, it's directed by Tony Award Winner Rachel Chavkin with Creative Direction by Hamilton’s Associate & Supervising Director, Patrick Vassel and featuring student, alum, and celebrity performances.

According to the website, Opening Act is committed to advancing arts equity in NYC and beyond, for more than twenty years, Opening Act has actively centered the voices of students of color through free, high-quality theater programming. It's theater programs provide students attending New York City’s most under-served public schools the opportunity to gain confidence, pride, and the knowledge that they can succeed at anything in life. Since inception, we have grown to reach over 7,000 young people.
