Feel-Good Interview Series: Actor Charles Esten of Nashville & Outerbanks Shares 6 Things You May Not Know About Him

Charles Esten of Nashville fame is the star of Outer Banks, where he plays Ward Cameron. He has also been in many movies and TV shows including Big Love and Enlightened. Upcoming he stars as Tye Barton in an documentary- influenced narrative feature about a singer called Bad on Paper. He shared six interesting things about him that fans may not know. 

Favorite Movies 

He shared that he watched the Paul Newman documentary The Last Movie Stars on HBO Max. “Then, my wife and I re-watched his movies The Hustler, Cool Hand Luke, and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” Esten said. 

“We did a Paul Newman kick and we really loved that,” he added. 

Favorite Series to Binge-watch 

Other than ‘Outer Banks, we are big ‘Succession’ fans, and we had fun watching that come back and being in that world again,” he said about his favorite series to binge. 

“I also love Breaking Bad and The Wire,” he added. 

Favorite Sports to Watch and Play 

“I like to play basketball, it’s a good way for me to stay fit even though I can’t bang the same way I used to on the court. It is such a physical and gracious sport. Also, I like golf, I wish I was better at it. I would probably enjoy it more.” 

“My favorite sport to watch is football. I’m such a big Steelers fan, and I like watching college basketball,” he added. 

Favorite Cheat Meal 

On his favorite cheat meal, Esten said, “It’s going to come between a cheeseburger and a pizza.” 

Favorite Mottos to Live by 

He shared that his favorite motto to live by is simply: “Be Kind.” 

Dream Acting Partners to Someday Work With 

When asked about his dream acting partners, Esten responded, “That’s a hard one, to me, it’s more about the role for me, than who I am with.” “Having said that, I would like to work with Wendell Pierce. To be in something with Wendell would be fantastic,” he said.
