Review: Slightly Stoopid Satiates Fan's Desires at The Stone Pony as Part of NJ's North To Shore Festival - Photos and Video

By Shane Curry

I've been to a lot of concerts, probably more than most people my age, and undeniably this concert was one of the best I’ve ever been to. The sound was amazing, the sunset was amazing and the lasers were mesmerizing.

Everybody in the crowd was there to soak in the music of this band and the setting sun only added to the special feeling of the show, which took place in the cool, beachy town of Asbury Park NJ. The concert, at the iconic Stone Pony, was part of the North to Shore Festival sponsored by Prudential. The Stone Pony is a tremendous venue for any band. You can feel the history in it.

I have seen slightly stoopid many times before and there was something special about this show. The band kept saying, “we’re having way too much fun up here!” And it really did look like they were.

The Best Song of the Concert

I really think the best song was 2am. They are just such a good live band. The rhythm section is so tight and you can hear that they love playing together. The whole production team did such a good job of complimenting the music. There are dub delays that the FOH engineer were controlling and the lights and laser techs knew the music really well. It’s the whole package.

Would I See Them Again?

I would absolutely see them again. They are one of, in my opinion the best live bands around right now. They’ve been playing together for so long I would put them in the same echelon as phish, or Grateful Dead, or any band that has been touring as long as they have.
