Who's in the car with Blossom and Len?

Emmy award-winning actress Martha Byrne is in that car.

After a few decades away from the stage having started her career in Broadway's Annie, three-time Emmy Winner Martha Byrne returns to star as Fern in "In the Car with Blossom and Len, a play about the trials and tribulations of growing up, growing old and having to take care of parents who are simply old. The play is a Queens Theatre in the Park production.

For anyone whoever who had to take care of their parents, at any age, this comedy is sure to strike a nerve and draw some laughter, because when dealing with aging parents, you've got to have a sense of humor.

Also starring in this play are Peter Levine  as Len, Emily Jon Mitchell ("The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife") as Blossom, Patricia Randell (HBO's "Too Big to Fail") as
Holly and Whitney Andrews as Susan Anderson.

Martha, who played Lily Snyder on As The World Turns for over two decades, was used to learning new lines everyday. Regarding this play, she said, " I had not had to learn this many lines in quite some time, it took me a while to get the hang of it but it's all good now. " She added, "exhausted but having a blast."

Queens Theatre describes it this way:

Throughout their childhood, Holly and Fern's parents were wildly unpredictable, endearingly neurotic, and blatantly dysfunctional. Now, in their eighties, they are facing the biggest crises of their lives, and it’s up to Holly and Fern to lend a hand. In the Car with Blossom and Len is a smart, biting and poignant comedy about growing up and growing old - not necessarily in that order.

The play is by Joni Fritz, directed by Lynne Taylor-Corbett.

It runs November 11 - 20th, 2016. There are alsomatinees. Tickets are $25 - $45, For ticket info:
