NJ's Martha Byrne Joins the Cast of new NBC Crime Thriller CRISIS

Los Angeles: Two-time Emmy winning actress Martha Byrne, best known for her work on the popular former long-running daytime drama, As the World Turns, will be returning to television as she joins the cast of the new NBC crime thriller, Crisis, set to air March 16,2004 in the Sunday at 10pm time slot after the Sochi Olympics.

Crisis is a powerful crime thriller set in Washington DC, which centers around a school bus carrying some the the nation's most important people's children that is ambushed on a secluded rural road, igniting a national crisis. Just how far the parents will go to rescue their kids plays out in this edge-of-
your-seat drama. Crisis stars Gillian Anderson (The X-Files), Dermot Mulroney (August: Osage County), Lance Gross (House of Payne), Rachel Taylor (666 Park Avenue) and others. The series was created by executive producer and writer Rand Ravich, Phillip Noyce also serves as executive producer. It is a production of 20th Century Fox Television.

Martha joins the cast of Crisis as Marie Wirth, the mother of one of the kidnap victims. Martha states," To be a part of a show from it's inception is extremely exciting. I was very fortunate to work with Lance Gross and Rachel Taylor who were fantastic. Crisis is filled with intrigue and suspense but watching what the parents of these children go through is heart wrenching and painful which makes for good drama. It's a great role."


Martha Byrne has a long career in entertainment, which began at age 10 when she appeared in Annie on Broadway.  Martha grew up on television starring on the soap opera As The World Turns playing the roles of Lily Walsh Synder and her twin sister Rose winning two Emmys in the process. Martha also Executive Produced the movie Bye Bye Sally with Malin Ackerman, has a self-titled CD, and has made over 30 film and television appearances. She also produced, wrote and starred in the award-winning Internet drama Gotham, which is now available on Vimeo. She recently starred in an independent film by Bill Duke, entitled Preying for Mercy. In her home state of New Jersey, she is co-owner of a talent training and management academy for aspiring young actors and actresses, called Full Circle Talent Group. Martha is very proud of her position on the Professional Advisory Board for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital which supports children with cancer and other childhood illnesses. Recently Martha became involved in CASA for Children in Bergen County NJ, which advocates for children in foster care.
