“When I am at my A-game and not injured, I like bouldering and doing jiujitsu,” he said.

His favorite cheat meal involves “sweets.” I like a whole mess of very artistically beautiful pastries,” he said.

His favorite motto to live by is the “Golden Rule.” “To treat others the way you would want to be treated,” he said.
“I feel like there's a lot of wisdom in there that people typically just ignore or only utilize when it suits them,” he said. “Actually, living like that is a really good way to do it.”
How Max Burkholder Unwinds
On his favorite hobbies to unwind and relax, he said, “I love taking the dog for really long walks (like nine-mile or 10-mile walks). That’s a really good way to unwind.”

On the best thing about being his age (28 years old), Burkholder said, "Being okay with things slowing down. I don't need to be out late until 3 a.m. anymore on a nightly basis. I'm totally fine with that."
The Best Advice Max Has Ever Been Given
On the best advice he has ever been given, Burkholder said, "Brett Morgen, who directed me in a pilot called 'When the Streetlights Go On,' told me that you don't need to go to film school. "You just need to learn enough so that you can answer anybody's questions on set at any time about anything. That's 90 percent of a director's job," he said.

His favorite music is alternative rock. "I'm very much into guitar music even though I hate guitars. My older brother and my father are both guitar players and there were always too many guitars around us growing up. I've got a hatred for guitars, but I like guitar music," he explained.
