Feel Good Interview Series: Laura San Giacomo of "Sugar", "Just Shoot Me", "Pretty Woman" and More - Her Love of Children, Her Favorite Hobbies and How the Best Advice She Ever Got from a Fellow Actor

Laura San Giacomo is a two-time Golden Globe-nominated actress best known for her memorable roles in television and film. She hails from West Orange, New Jersey, she studied fine arts at Carnegie Mellon University before beginning her acting career. 

She is known for her acting work in Pretty Woman as Julia Robert's character's best friend Kit De Luca. She later became especially well known for her role as Maya Gallo on the sitcom Just Shoot Me! and as Rhetta Rodriguez on the television series Saving Grace. As of late, this Jersey Girl has had roles on Sugar, Margo's Got Money Problems, NCIS, The Santa Clauses and many more.
Throughout her career, San Giacomo has been praised for her versatile performances, portraying both comedic and dramatic characters. She has continued to work in television and film while maintaining a relatively private life away from the spotlight.

Her favorite movies include Sinners, and such classics as The Deer Hunter,  All the President’s Men, as well as Gloria with Gena Rowlands.
Favorite Series to binge-watch
Her favorite series to binge are The Handmaid’s Tale and Succession. “I’ve watched them three or more times,” she admitted.
Favorite Mottos to Live by
Her favorite motto to live by is “Try to let it go.” “Always try to let the little things go in life,” she said.
Favorite Sports to Watch and to Play
On her favorite sports to watch and to play, she said, “Well, I'm really enjoying ‘Formula 1: Drive to Survive’ on Netflix. I also love baseball.”
This Jersey Girl's Favorite Cheat Meal
Her favorite cheat meal is pizza. “I actually like to make pizza myself,” she said.
If Laura San Giacomo Could Have a Superpower it Might Be...
If she were to have any superpower, it would be “for all the children in the world to be fed and happy at the end of the day.”
What She Says is the Best Thing about Being the Age She is Now
On the best thing about being her age at this stage of her life, she said, “I am okay with myself right now. I am letting myself go through my feelings and not be pushed.”
“I am not pushing myself,” she said. “I am just letting myself have each day, and I allow for every day to be whatever it is.”
If Laura was Not an Actor She Might Be...
As her alternate career choice, she would work with kids. “I always thought that if I wasn’t an actress, I would be a social worker,” he said.
How She Unwinds
Her favorite hobbies to unwind and relax are “gardening.”
“I do like to do some reading and writing. I do like to watch some TV. I do like to take my dog to the beach. I like that a lot—just to be by the beach for an hour or two. It’s very calming,” she admitted.
The Best Advice She has ever Been Given
Regarding the best advice she has ever been given, she shared, “Héctor Elizondo and I were working on a movie, and they had called us to set. I was hurrying very quickly, and he said to me, ‘Don't run. Just walk. Be inside your body. Feel yourself. Take your time and to enter with that presence of who you are.”
“I think that was really great advice to carry on with me in my life,” she acknowledged.
