Feel Good Interview Series: Morgan Fairchild - 10 Things To Know About This Accomplished Actress - And What She Might Have Been Had Acting Not Been Her Success

Acclaimed actress Morgan Fairchild is known for her acting work in the primetime soap operas "Dallas," "Flamingo Road," as well as "Paper Dolls" and "Falcon Crest." She also guest starred in "Murphy Brown," "Two and a Half Men," "Roseanne," "Cybill," and "Friends" (where she played the on-screen mother of the late Matthew Perry.) Most recently, she returned to the CBS soap opera "The Bold and The Beautiful" as Dorothy "Dottie" Bright after a 17-year absence. Fairchild shared 10 interesting and exciting things about herself.
Favorite Movies
On her favorite movies, she said, “I’m an old movie buff. ‘Casablanca’ is my favorite movie of all time. I also love ‘My Favorite Year’ with Peter O’Toole, who was just as brilliant in ‘Lawrence of Arabia’.”
Favorite Series to Binge-watch
On her favorite series to binge-watch, she said, “You know, I don’t really do that. I don’t know why. I am not that kind of person. I do like watching ‘Ghost Adventures’ though.”
Morgan Fairchild's Favorite Cheat Food
Her favorite cheat meal is “Chocolates.” “Those are so good,” she admitted.
Favorite Sports to Watch and to Play
On her favorite sport to watch and to play, she said, “I was a very sickly kid, so I never really go to play sports, but I did do a Barbara Mandrell charity softball game, and I was pretty decent at softball and hitting the ball and pitching. So, softball would be my favorite.”
The Best Advice Morgan Fairchild Has Ever Been Given
On the best advice that she has ever been given, Fairchild said, “If there is anything else in life that you can do and be happy, then do that. That’s the advice I would give young actors that are starting out. It is such a hard business, especially for women.”
“If you have any other interests or talents, sometimes it’s better to pursue those because it’s a very cruel business,” she acknowledged.
What Morgan Says is the Best Thing About Being Her Age
On the best thing about being her age, at this stage of her life, Fairchild remarked, “New Adventures and Reinventing Myself.”
How She Unwinds
On her favorite hobbies to unwind and relax, she said, “Well, I read a lot and I used to do a lot of needlepoint. I haven't done that just recently, but I I love doing my needlepoint again.”
“It's very creative, challenging, and you're very proud of yourself when you finish something. Reading is mainly my main thing to relax,” she said.
“I love reading and I love going for long walks,” she admitted. “I started during COVID because nobody, everybody was shut down and nobody could go to the gym.”
“I started going for walks and I started tweeting those because I realized that everybody was cooped up, especially in states not like California, where it was still cold and everything. People were kind of going stir crazy,” she elaborated.
“So, I started posting pictures of flowers that I was seeing here in California. People would say, ‘Oh, this is giving me hope’ and ‘we're missing pictures of you with the flowers’,” she added.
If Morgan Fairchild Was Not An Actress She Might Be...
Her alternate career choices would be a doctor, microbiologist or a paleontologist. “Louis Pasteur was my early idol,” she said. “One of my weird hobbies is exploring emerging viruses and epidemiology. So, I would have gone into medicine. I would have probably gone into research and everything. So yeah, that’s what I wanted to do.”
“I always thought I might end up out in the Gobi Desert, dusting off the dinosaur bones,” she said. When I first got to LA, everybody back in the day would go to Hollywood and Vine, or they would go to the Beverly Hills Hotel or something very Hollywood. My first stop was the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum.”
If She Could Have a Superpower...
Her superpower of choice would be “reading minds.”
How She Defines Success
Fairchild defined the word success as “forward motion.” “Success is one step in front of the other. You keep going and you move with the times, and you reinvent yourself,” she observed.
