Three Time Emmy Winner Cady McClain stars in the one-woman show, Shirley Valentine to be playing at the Cape May Stage in Cape, May, NJ from June 7th to July 2nd 2023.
Cady plays a Liverpool housewife’s best friend who wins a competition for a trip for two to Greece. This trip of a lifetime ends up transforming her life.
Shirley Valentine is a romantic comedy that won both the Olivier and Tony Awards, and was adapted into a film in 1989. Called a “joyful, captivating piece of theater” by The New York Daily News.
“Shirley Valentine” stars three-time Emmy Award winner, Cady McClain. A veteran actor and director, Cady will be appearing for the first time at Cape May Stage. Cady McClain made history as the first woman to have won three Emmys© for three different characters on three different television shows: All My Children (Best Juvenile, 1991), As the World Turns (Best Supporting, 2004), and Days of Our Lives (Best Guest Performer, 2021). She has performed in many stage productions, appeared in numerous TV shows such as Law & Order SVU, Cheers and currently as Jennifer Horton on Days of Our Lives and several movies including Pennies From Heaven. Her feature directorial debut, Seeing is Believing: Women Direct (featuring Lesli Linka Glatter, Sarah Gavron, and Naima Ramos Chapman, among others) won numerous awards including Best Documentary at the Ridgewood Guild International Film Festival. It is available on PBS and Kanopy. She was honored to be awarded the International Matrix Award for her work related to supporting the female voice in film and television by the Association of Women in Communications. She is an Ambassador for Kids in the Spotlight (a foster youth filmmaking program) and also the Artistic Director for Axial Theatre in Westchester.
