The cocktail party in the main room started at 6pm and ended as the ceremony started. Guests dined on heavy appetizers including many Asian foods. The spicy sausage was especially good.
Suzanne Sena was the master of ceremonies for the night, and nominees and other familiar faces acted as presenters. John Brotherton (Fuller House, One Life to Live) was the only male presenter.

The most touching speech was given by Tracey Reiner, daughter of Penny Marshall and Rob Reiner as she spoke about the nights Courage Award Honoree, Carrie Fisher. She told some stories about Carrie and about her relationship with her. You could see the sadness and nostalgia in her demeanor as she spoke about this Hollywood icon, her sense of humor, her love of life, her love of family and her accomplishments.
